The government is under fire for ongoing prosecution delays in the Bradley Manning trial. Guaranteed a trial within 120 days, it will be 983 days in prison before Bradley Manning gets his day in court. And a bipartisan whistleblower protections bill has passed through the House of Representatives, but it does not protect intelligence officers – whom Obama promised to protect.

The government has made an “absolute mockery” of Bradley Manning’s right to a speedy trial
September 29, 2012. By Nathan Fuller. Bradley Manning’s lawyer, David Coombs, has filed a 117-page motion calling for the dismissal of all charges with prejudice, for lack of a speedy trial. He details the many lengthy delays the government has taken in prosecuting Bradley Manning, with no regard for the young soldier’s due process rights. When Coombs argues the motion at Ft. Meade, October 29 – November 2, Bradley will have been in pretrial confinement for nearly 900 days.
