Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is the highest ranking civilian leader of the military, aside from President Obama in his role as Commander-In-Chief. As a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, he worked for civil rights issues, and there is hope he will listen to our concerns about Bradley. He is also relatively new to the trial, and in a position of influence to allow United Nations requests for a special rapporteur on torture, Juan Mendez, to have access to confidentially meet with Pfc. Bradley Manning.

Bradley Manning to be arraigned at Fort Meade Feb. 23rd

February 13, 2012. Bradley Manning Support Network. The US Army last week scheduled a formal arraignment hearing for PFC Bradley Manning, the accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower. The arraignment is scheduled for 1:00 PM EST, February 23, 2012 at Fort Meade, Maryland, just northeast of Washington DC. While the hearing itself is expected to be brief, PFC Manning is expected to be present, and the proceedings are open to the media and public. Washington DC area supporters of the Support Network are encouraged to attend the arraignment.

Arraignment date set for Peace Prize nominee Bradley Manning

February 9, 2012. Bradley Manning Support Network. The United States Army announced today that a formal arraignment date has been set for PFC Bradley Manning. The arraignment has been scheduled for 01:00 PM EST, February 23, 2012 at Fort Meade, Maryland. This arraignment will set the dates for a series of hearings on pre-trial motions, as well as the start of the full court-martial.

Military officials formally refer Bradley Manning case to court-martial

Today’s announcement by the General Court-Martial Convening Authority, Major General Michael S. Linnington, endorses the recommendations made last month by Lt. Col. Paul Almanza, who presided over the Article 32 hearing in December. Supporters of the accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower have condemned these proceedings as fundamentally unjust.

Military refers all charges against Bradley Manning to court martial

January 12, 2012. Bradley Manning Support Network. Military officers orchestrating proceedings against PFC Bradley Manning have referred all charges that were considered during last month’s Article 32 proceedings to a general court martial. Investigating officer Lt. Col. Paul Almanza rejected a request from lead defense counsel David Coombs to consolidate the 22 charges into three charges, expressing concerns that the military is over-charging PFC Manning.
