The ACLU has opened a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security accusing it of violating the 1st and 4th amendments when agents seized David House’s laptop last year. House contends that the government’s actions in seizing his personal items have had a chilling affect on people’s comfort in supporting the Bradley Manning Support Network.

The San Francisco Chronicle continues coverage of Bradley Manning in the aftermath of the protest at Obama’s San Francisco breakfast fundraiser. This week, one of their writers is comparing Obama to Nixon, because of his pretrial declaration of Bradley’s guilt.

Two days ago the Obama administration proposed new cybersecurity legislation. Wired Magazine explains it here. President Obama is asking for a mandatory three-year prison sentence to anyone who hacks “critical infrastructure.” Additionally, special provisions would be added to target organized cyber crime. Another interesting feature of the legislation is that it would not only protect government networks, but a number of corporations that contract with the government as well. We can only speculate as to whether the legislation is partially a response to Wikileaks. However, the ACLU has already stated concern about the legislation and the impact it could have on Americans’ internet privacy.
