My Lai Massacre
Three U.S. servicemen who had tried to halt the massacre and protect the wounded were initially denounced by several U.S. Congressmen as traitors. They received hate mail and death threats and found mutilated animals on their doorsteps. The three were later widely praised and decorated by the Army for their heroic actions.

I was drafted in 1971. We were taught that it was our duty to disobey an unlawful order. And to pursuit our chain of command when a unlawful order was given.

I believe PFC Manning acted out of frustration because his chain of command failed to perform their duty,

I believe Warrant Officer Thompson and PFC Bradley Manning performed thier true duty for the American People.

I write to you as a mother, a wife, an activist, and a Vietnam Veteran. Thank you for creating a voice against those who have none. Your only crime was to report crime. Your actions did what Americans pretend to stand for. Correction, the American Government. My thoughts are with you always. Stay strong for those of us who have become so bloody weak. We are all behind you. Your name is spoken in coffee houses, University unions, retirement centers, high school games. Your support staff is huge!

This is about the truth coming out for all to see. This should give nations cause to at least hesitate when they execute policies that are against their own laws. It is also about the non-Geneva Convention treatment of someone who stood up and said “this is not right”. I support Bradley Manning

This whole thing is a shameful miscarriage of justice, and a perversion of due process. The burden of proof is on the government, not Bradley Manning. It is obvious that the government has no evidence to support it’s accusations. The fact that he has been in confinement this long is reprehensible. I am ashamed to be associated with this government….as every American should be.

Thank to Mr. Coombs for his preservance, persistance, intelligent, and passion defending for Bradley Manning in the pre-trial proceedings so far. Bradley is extremely lucky to have Mr. Coombs working hard for him! I truly enjoy reading live blogs so far this month! Keep good work of all bloggers! Without you, I would not know anything much about this case!

The Government treatment of Manning and ignorance of the facts from the President to the Congress is outrageous and dangerous. They treated him worse than a terrorist and failed to grasp their role in this scapegoating to avoid the larger issue of the illegal treatment of an American and what he has supposedly done.
This is the opposite of how he needs to be viewed.

I think it must be determined that the treatment of Bradley Manning was intended to be a scathing deterrent to any who would choose their duty to their country and some vestige of morality over complicit allegiance with a government fraught with war crime mentality and a power mad incentive to concoct wars for power. The new wikileaks should disabuse these efforts no matter how egregious. Free Bradley, man of the year, now.
