Update 9/28/11: Bradley nominated for Nobel Peace Prize, WhiteHouse.gov petition live!

Reuters News is reporting that Bradley Manning has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize!

Mere days after The White House released an action plan calling for greater protection for government whistleblowers, The Bradley Manning Support Network has submitted a petition to The White House’s new petition website, “We the People.” We are calling for the Obama Administration to allow UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Juan Mendez, to meet with Bradley. We are also calling for Bradley’s freedom. Visit here to sign. (Note: a brief registration is required.)

CBS News carries an article written by State Department insider, Peter Van Buren, describing his experience being interrogated for the State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security for linking to a WikiLeak cable in his blog. He speculates that he is really being targeted because his soon-to-be-released book is critical of U.S. foreign policy in Iraq.
