Graham Nash and James Raymond release song & video in support of Bradley

Rock and roll hall of famer Graham Nash and James Raymond have released a new song and video, “Almost Gone (The Ballad of Bradley Manning)”, in support of accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower Bradley Manning. The video release comes just in time to help raise awareness about Bradley Manning’s upcoming December 17th pretrial hearing – which is also Bradley’s birthday. The Bradley Manning Support Network is calling for that day to be an international day of solidarity in his honor, and to date over 40 events have been announced. Stand up for Bradley Manning and enjoy the music, which Nash and Raymond have given us permission to share here.

Written and performed by Graham Nash and James Raymond, video by Andrew Thomas.

Almost Gone (The Ballad Of Bradley Manning )
Written by Graham Nash and James Raymond

Locked up in a white room, underneath a glaring light
Every 5 minutes, they’re asking me if I’m alright
Locked up in a white room naked as the day I was born
24 bright light, 24 all alone

What I did was show some truth to the working man
What I did was blow the whistle and the games began

Tell the truth and it will set you free
That’s what they taught me as a child
But I can’t be silent after all I’ve seen and done
24 bright light I’m almost gone, almost gone

Locked up in a white room, dying to communicate
Trying to hang in there underneath a crushing wait
Locked up in a white room I’m always facing time
24 bright light, 24 down the line

What I did was show some truth to the working man
What I did was blow the whistle and the games began

But I did my duty to my country first
That’s what they taught me as a man
But I can’t be silent after all I’ve seen and done
24 bright light I’m almost gone, almost gone
(Treat me like a human, Treat me like a man )

  1. Thank you again Graham for bringing this injustice to light. Perfection is our enemy but we have to at least try. This is travesty of the highest order.

  2. There’s that saying – “No one is free, until everyone is free.” Well, that is true many times over in the case of Bradley Manning, and Julian Assange and WikiLeaks must also “be set free” as well! They did the right thing for all of us; now we must do right by them!

  3. Thank you for standing up. Thank you for trying to make justice. Thank you for your fight for others. When people, when women and men and causes make a stand it encourages others to stand for something they may not want to do but may be called to do. Stand sometimes that is all we can do ‘Let the Sun Stand Still’

  5. Graham Nash and David Crosby, you both were human enough to visit Occupation Wall Street and sing with the common man!
    I salute you.
I have been listening to you since 1970.
Thank you for this and for caring.
We are surrounded by so much apathy in this “sold out country” that people like you give us all hope.
We are all in this together, like it or not.
And that includes the 1% too!!!!!!!
Maybe when enough people are fed up enough they will finally mobilize!
    I hope so.

Graham, if any of my images look to you like they would help this movement, and someone could show me how I would release them for that purpose.

  6. Thank you Graham Nash- You said it so well. This man, Bradley Manning let the truth out for the world to see & he is in prison for it.
America is supposed to be all about “Truth Justice & the American way” right? The truth is not a crime & should not put someone into prison. This information that he let out sparked pro-demaocracy rallies all over the world. America should rejoice in that. Aren’t we at war to promote democracy? If we can promote it without war, isn’t that preferable?
We may have found an alternative to war- letting the truth out-It may seem radical, but actually, reading the truth is way less radical than murdering people for having different beliefs.

  7. Another Great Song By Graham Nash And James Raymond Up To The Moment And Not Afraid To Tell The Truth. Another Administration That Won’t Stand For Truth, Very Sad. Bradley Manning Is The True American Hero Standing For Truth. Peace & Love To Bradley Manning.

  8. Thank you for keeping the faith. The truth will get out and we will never give up. Sometimes I despair that things are not better. And then I realize that holding it together is important Here is a haiku thank you for you. Love.

    Friends I never knew
I’ve heard the heart songs singing.
    You breathe in my breath.

  9. Things MUST CHANGE soon so we can see the truth and act in accordance. Hopefully for this ysoung man it wont be too late, I wont give up my ideals either been fighting for too many years for better conditions for wives

  10. Fantastic but not at all surprising

Nash is an unsung hero and one of the many
    artists of who’s activist’s pedigree
was long ago verified can be verified via his
music going back to Vietnam , the civil rights movement,The attack on Iraq the efforts to impeach Nixon,The Iran -Contra Scandal and those are just a few.

There was also- once again currently relevant the 1972 song `
`Imigration Man’ he and Crosby recorded regarding his own expierience. Truly up there with Dylan with whom
hed collaborated. Thankyou once again, Graham.
