Update 9/9/11: Council of Europe declares Bradley Manning a whistle-blower, supporters gather for dinner parties

Support for Bradley Manning’s freedom and for the protection of whistleblowers generally is growing every day. The Council of Europe recently released a report condemning the “cult of secrecy” that shields war crimes and calling for the enhanced protection of whistleblowers everywhere. The report singles out Bradley Manning as an alleged “whistleblower [who] should be treated as such,” and to whom we are “indebted.”

Upcoming events supporting PFC Bradley Manning:
In central London, UK Friends of Bradley Manning are meeting September 15, as they do every week. More info here.

Many localized Free Bradley Manning branches are holding vigils. For example, Free Bradley Manning Minnesota is planning to hold local vigils each of the next few Monday nights. More info here.

Support and Awareness Dinner Parties
This weekend, roughly 60 registered dinner parties are taking place around the world, to help support the campaign to win Bradley’s freedom. A few of them are public events, where everyone is welcome.
